TV production ends in the UKOn Thursday the final TV set made in the United Kingdom rolled off the production line at Toshiba's factory in Plymouth, marking an end to the manufacture of a technology the UK invented. When John Logie Baird demonstrated his first television set to the world in 1926, a reporter from the Times wrote: The Baird Corporation was the world's only recognised TV manufacturer at the end of the 1920s, with their Televisor Model B being the first mass-produced, commercially available set.
