First activation of Willow Island, Texas

The Tri-County Amateur Radio Club of North Texas, WC5C will activate for the first time Willow Island (USi TX061), located in Lake Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, on September 5th.

This island is tanglewood and inhospitable (poison ivy) with some wildlife.

A commemorative QSL card will be dispatched to all contacts acknowledging them as remote participants in the first activation of Willow Island. We will need QSL cards from everyone so we can qualify the island.

Operations will mainly be on 20m and 40m SSB, but they will QSY to accomodate stations on other HF bands or modes. PSK31, SSB and CW modes will be available.

The club will access the island by boat, canoe and kayak. Primary hours of operation will be 1400 UTC to 2200 UTC, and possibly continuing into the night depending on conditions.
