Second World War POW exhibition in Manchester

The Imperial War Museum North, in Manchester, is running an exhibition focussed on PoWs during the last war.

Amongst the exhibits is a radio made using cocoa tins, toothbrushes and an ashtray. It was built by Ernest Shackleton, G6SN, whilst a prisoner.

His radio meant prisoners were better informed about the war than their captors.

The exhibition is open until the end of the year.
