A sad loss for ham radioIt is with great sadness that I report the passing of Peter Hale, G4OAD. Peter, who was 88 years old when he died, was a true inspiration to many and gave so much to the hobby he loved, and fellow hams around him for so many years. He was a keen CW man and tought the code to many including myself some 25 years ago. I recall visiting Peter several times each week to practise face to face and remember with fondess his stories of his days in the armed forces where he formed part of a Tank crew. Peter was also an Morse examiner in years past and still provided 'teaching' serivces daily on S10 (144MHz band) for all those interested in learning. He was also an active member of several local Ham radio clubs too and one of the many visitors to my talk and presentation at the Chelmsford Radio Society earlier this year. He leaves a wife and son who, along with the ham radio community, will miss him and his dry sense of humour very much. (photo of Peter on my website) www.g0ksc.co.uk
