New safety device implemented in mid-Missouri

The small mid-Missouri town of Hallsville made history on Saturday, December 11 becoming the first town in the USA to implement the new Emergency Alert Response System.

With the Hallsville police Department, Boone County Fire and County Ambulance services all with transmitters, the town is ready to go. The installation of the free transmitters will help in reducing the number of emergency vehicle accidents that are occurring everywhere.

The Boone County School district came right on board by placing receivers in all of their school buses making the trips to and from school safer for the children.

However the NAB, the National Association of Broadcasters wants the FCC to STOP sales of the receivers over the internet.

Why?

Well the alert type system uses a low power transmitter in emergency vehicles which blocks a cars audio (AM or FM) warning the driver of approaching rescue vehicles.
