One in four in UK own Orange phone

Orange today confirmed its position as the UK’s most popular mobile operator, with more customers than any other network in the country and the first to pass through the 14 million customer barrier.

Bernard Ghillebaert, Executive Vice President of Orange UK said: “Orange has the highest number of Pay as you Go customers in the UK. It’s been a competitive period, but we’ve remained productive and focused, delivering on great new innovation such as our new high speed (3G) services.”

In the year of Orange’s tenth anniversary, growth has been accelerating recently with the introduction of free evening calls for life and 3p text offers.

Orange has the most stringent definition of its customer base of all UK operators, ensuring that a customer is only counted as active if they have used their Orange phone in the last three months.
