25th Anniversary Reunion

The Scout Association is hosting a '25th Anniversary Reunion' for all or any who attended 'WAJAM79' at Perry Lakes in December 1979 / January 1980 - the last function of the Sesquicentary year of WA.

The VK6 Amateur fraternity mounted the largest amateur radio set-up ever seen in Australia, and this has not been challenged since - although Brisbane came close 3 years later.

There were the usual two or three AR HF stations and a 2 metre FM/SSB set for any of the 11,000 customers to enjoy communication, HF 'glass RTTY' (Amtor) operating demonstration, two construction workshops, broadcast band radio 6SJ (with jamboree news and music, plus a split with commentary from the nightly stage productions) on 1310KHz and Jamboree TV on channel 34 (with footage from TV stations and local capture). A 2mx link was used between AR staff.

A team of something like 140 people performed the functions required to keep all these facilities operating for the eight days of the Jamboree plus 2 or 3 days setting up and testing.

ALL THESE PEOPLE ARE INVITED TO THE REUNION - Scout, Leader, Operator, Helper, Guide Announcer, Advisor or whatever:

It will be held at the Jamboree Memorial (on the western side of the south-east lake) at Perry Lakes on Monday December 27th 2004. The reunion will last from 1500 hrs to about 2200 hrs and is BYO everything - including a gas lamp if available. BBQ facilities are available. Come any time and leave when you must.

Please wear your Jamboree Scarf if you had one. Photographs would be interesting if you had time to take them! Please tell anyone else who was there about it."
