Richard Wentworth e-card now available exclusively at Tate online

Missed the deadline for posting your Christmas cards?
All is not lost – a stylish e-card showing the work of renowned British sculptor Richard Wentworth, is now available exclusively at www.tate.org.uk – and can be sent free of charge

Richard Wentworth, famous for his use of everyday objects, drew inspiration from the festive season for his two sculptures, Darktime and Lunette. As e-cards they offer a sophisticated alternative to the traditional Christmas card.

So if you want to send something distinctive, or you have simply missed the post, log onto www.tate.org.uk to send your free Christmas e-card.

Other images also available on Tate’s Christmas e-cards include: Candlemas Day by Marianne Stokes, A Girl with a Flute by William Morris, Foliate Head by John Piper, Winter by Julian Trevelyan, From My Bedroom Window by Sir Alfred Munnings and The Boulevard de Clichy under Snow by Norbert Goeneutte.

The e-card initiative has added an extra dimension to the arts site, which is the most popular in the UK, attracting over 500,000 visitors a month. Furthermore, Tate Online is the UK's number one arts website with a 13.91% market share as monitored by independent regulatory body Hitwise.

Since becoming exclusive sponsor of Tate Online in August 2001, BT has worked with Tate to make art accessible for everyone and the e-cards demonstrate this rationale.

Jemima Rellie, head of digital programmes at Tate, said: “Since we launched Tate e-cards in December 2003, there has been a fantastic response to the service and we are pleased that we have enabled many people across the world to access and experience art in a way that is relevant and practical today. The e-card initiative, which has been supported by BT, has become a permanent feature of the Tate site and we will continue to update and expand the library of exclusive Tate images for the benefit of online visitors.”

Paul Leonard, head of sponsorship at BT, added: “As the UK’s leading communications company, our aim is to provide innovative communications solutions for our customers. E-cards allow people to get in touch instantly in a highly original way.”
