Telstra launches Push To Talk

Australian phone company Telstra has just launched Push To Talk (PTT) on CDMA - using the resources of the country's largest wireless network to help customers stay connected in more places.

Push to Talk allows callers to use their mobile phone like a walkie-talkie. At the push of a button the caller can communicate with individuals or large groups of people at the same time.

With PTT, there is no dialling, ringing, or waiting for answers. Communication is in one direction at a time and only when the button is being pressed, particularly useful for quick updates, requests, instructions and coordination among groups.
