British public donating £1m per hour
in tsunami disaster appeal

Up to £1 million pounds per hour is being donated by the British public to aid the victims of Sunday's tsunami.

So far, £32m has been donated, a sum which has out-stripped the British government's initial donation of £15m. The Government has since increased its donation to £50m following calls from the public to be more generous.

The scale of this disaster is vast - affecting 12 countries. The death toll has risen to over 122,000, and millions more are injured or homeless. The aid agencies will need every penny that you can spare in order to provide medical help, food supplies and shelter for the disaster victims.

If you would like to help the relief fund, the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) is an umbrella organisation representing a number of aid organisations and has a website where donations can be made online. The website can be found at http://www.dec.org.uk

You can also donate by telephone on 0870 60 60 900

Donations by post should be sent to:
DEC Tsunami Earthquake Appeal
PO Box 999
London
EC3A 3AA

Please make cheques payable to:
