New Australian Amateur Radio
licensing system on track

The ACA are in the process of developing the regulatory framework for the new three-tier amateur licensing regime, according to WIA Director Glenn Dunstan, VK4DU.

"Current indications are that there will be no changes to the timeframe - the new arrangements are expected to be implemented around May 2005" Glenn said.

"For some time now the WIA has been working with the ACA on the syllabus development for the Foundation licence. "

"The syllabus is being developed by a working group comprising Ron VK2DQ, Lee VK3PK, Carlo VK3PY and Fred VK3DRC. The draft has been forwarded to the ACA who have responded very positively" Glenn said.

"We hope to be in a position to release the Foundation Licence syllabus shortly and are continuing to work on the Standard and Advanced level syllabi."
