Progress report on the Victorian Young Industry Ambassadors program

As the result of significant publicity, numerous phone calls and countless e-mails to radio clubs, individual amateurs and the electronics industry, the National WIA has nominated three young people for this years YIA program.

Each of these three people have a keen interest in Communications and Electronics and are each working for Australian owned companies responsible for designing, manufacturing and installing state of the art RF equipment.

Whilst the three individuals selected do not currently posses Amateur Radio Licences, the WIA is offering guidance to each of the individuals to assist them in obtaining a licence.

The WIA has been informed that there have been a total of 5 nominations received for the YIA program, three from the efforts of the National WIA and two from independent industry sources.

While there has been no official extension to the YIA program, the search is ongoing and individuals nominated over the coming months are likely to be earmarked for a possible intake next year.

It is hoped that all Victorian Radio clubs and individual amateurs will continue their search for suitable candidates from within our ranks.

Please make sure that you WIA Director Robert Broomhead VK3KRB and the national WIA informed and if you have any questions, please contact VK3KRB directly on 0403 066 686.
