ARISS Event - 25th Asia Pacific Scout Jamboree

The next International Space Station's Expedition 12 ARISS school contact will be with Scouts at the 25th Asia Pacific Scout Jamboree in Thailand on Saturday, 31 December 2005. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 09:15 UTC.

This contact will be direct between stations NA1SS and E25AJ, so it should be audible to anyone in Southeast Asia and Southern portions of China listening in on the 145.80 MHz amateur radio downlink. The participants are expected to conduct the conversation in English.

The Asia Pacific Jamboree (APJ) is regularly held once per four years within Asia region. The 25th APJ will be held 28th December 2005 - 3 January 2006.

About 250000 participants and scouts mainly come from 23 countries inside Asia, and some others from all over the world. The Jamboree is organized for young people both boys and girls aged between 12 to 17 years old.

Students will ask as many of the following questions as time allows:

1. How is the candle flame looks like in the space?
2. In your immigration form to space, where did you say you are going to?
3. Which planet, do you think there might be livings creatures?
4. Is it noisy in the space? Why did some astronauts have ear cover?
5. Do you sweat in the ISS, is yes, how is it?
6. In the journey from earth to the ISS, when was the most stressful time?
7. When and how, do you feel that it is the end of the gravity?
8. How do you taking a bath and shampoo your hair?
9. How is the change of Thailand's environment that you can see now, compare with what you see in your earlier mission?
10. What grade you got when you were in high school?
11. How many dress you bring along and how do you clean them?
12. How do you count the time you start to work each day in the space and do you have a holiday up there?
13. When your touched the ground after the mission was over, what was your very first feeling?
14. How do you get fresh fruits?
15. Are you afraid when doing the space walk?
16. Have you been a scout? If yes, what activity do you like the most?
17. If you will come to Thailand what is the place you would like the visit?
18. Have any astronauts got sick in space? If yes, what was the sickness and what do they do?
19. How did you celebrate your Christmas day?
20. What was your most delightful Christmas gifts
21. How do you feel when you look back to the earth?
22. Which planet you would like to visit the most?
23. What is the brand name of the torch using in space?
24. What was the Operation system of the computer using in the space?
25. Was the food delicious? Does it taste like normal food?
26. Have you ever gotten fed up with your friend in space, and what did you do?
27. After Harry Potter, what other movies you would like to watch?
28. After the mission was over, did you want to come back to space again?
29. How are you feel attached to the ISS?
30. Why do you want to be an astronaut?

Please note, the amateur radio equipment on the ISS will be turned off prior to the beginning of the contact. It will be returned to service as quickly as possible after that event.

ARISS is an international educational outreach program partnering the participating space agencies, NASA, Russian Space Agency, ESA, CNES, JAXA, and CSA, with the AMSAT and IARU organizations from participating countries.

ARISS offers an opportunity for students to experience the excitement of Amateur Radio by talking directly with crewmembers on-board the International Space Station. Teachers, parents and communities see, first hand, how Amateur Radio and crewmembers on ISS can energize youngsters' interest in science, technology, and learning.
