Australian school looking to start new amateur radio net

Deception Bay SHS is interested in forming an amateur radio net on 80 metres or 40 metres and the 2 metre band during lunchtimes to allow students to talk to each other.

Proposed times are from 11.05 to 11.45 am and 1.00 to 1.20 pm on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, on or about
3.60 mHz or 7.1 mHz (vhf is yet to be settled).

The start date would be on or about 1 December 2005 for the rest of the school year.

Channel 7 Brisbane is interested in doing a story about this and all being well, they will be on location to film the story on the morning of Wednesday 7 December 2005.

If this goes well then it is proposed that a regular school net will be established in school year 2006.

If interested please contact Cec Kenny or Peter Allen (VK4HOY) at Deception Bay SHS on phone 3897 2222 or email kenn15@eq.edu.au
