Deutsche Welle back on mediumwave in Moscow

The German and Russian programmes of Deutsche Welle are back on the air on 693 kHz mediumwave in Moscow, following a week of disruption after the airtime provider lost its licence.

Deutsche Welle Director Erik Bettermann has thanked the Russian Minister for Telecommunications, Leonid Reiman, for speeding up the process of sorting out new licences. Transmissions resumed yesterday evening.

It isn't clear if the BBC transmissions in Moscow on 1260 kHz have also returned to normal.

Yesterday, BBC Monitoring reported that the transmitter was still off the air as of 1040 UTC, and so far there is no indication on the BBC's Russian website that it is back on the air.
