IARU seeks input on an Emergency Communications
Handbook
Dear fellow Amateurs:
Your help is requested in the development of an IARU Emergency
Communications Handbook.
Hams with specific experience in emergency communications, in particular
those with responsibilities local, national or regional emergency
communications groups, will be invited to join the Working Group.
Please let me know, if you feel that you could actively contribute
to our work. If you have any information that could be of interest
in the context of our work, please forward it to me, even if you
do not wish to actively
participate in the further work. National guidelines or handbooks
on Emergency Communication are of specific interest at this time.
If you know of others in the RAC Field Organization who might be
knowledgeable in this field, please share this message with them.
Over the past 12 moths, the role of the Amateur Radio Service in
Emergency Communications has become more important and more visible
than ever before.
We all hope, that 2006 will be a year without events which need
emergency response, but we need to be prepared. The IARU Handbook
on Emergency Communications is needed as a valuable tool for those,
who are confronted
with critical situations.
Let me use this opportunity to thank you for the support I received
in 2005 and to wish all of you the very best for the holidays and
for a successful and hopefully disaster-free 2006
