New UK radio listeners magazine
to be called Monitoring Monthly

The new radio listeners' magazine in
the UK will now be called Monitoring Monthly, and not Shortwave.

This is because the editor of the new publication, Kevin Nice, lost an action in the High Court yesterday. The court has ruled that he is not allowed to use the word "Shortwave" in the title of anything he publishes.

The publishers of Short Wave Magazine, of which Mr Nice was the editor, have closed down the title and merged it with another magazine, Radio Active, to form Radio User, the first edition of which goes on sale on 20 December.

Mr Nice decided to leave the company and set up his own publishing operation, but was forced to change the title from Shortwave Magazine to Shortwave, and now to Monitoring Monthly.
