Thai novice amateur radio examinations

At the November RAST meeting, members and guests heard about National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) announcments regarding new standards for VHF and UHF radios and phones as well as new rules for the administration of novice amateur radio examinations that may now be conducted by amateur radio associations and societies.

Details (in Thai) can be found in Thai at the NTC's website www.ntc.or.th, while members heard that the NTC is also inviting the views and opinions of radio amateurs in Thailand who can join the forums relating to amateur radio.

One member asked if there had been any developments regarding the CEPT agreement, and John (Narissara), HS1CHB, replied by saying the the NTC official concerned had recently confirmed that this issue had now been taken up by the NTC.

The agreement had been initiated under the administration of the Post and Telegraph Department, but progress was interrupted when the NTC came into being and assumed all of the PTD's duties last year.
