SA Amateur Radio Construction Competition
2006
The South African Amateur Radio Development Trust has announced
the details of the 2006 Construction competition.
The competition is aimed at promoting design and construction of
amateur radio related equipment. Entries are invited for the design
and construction of an Antenna Tuner incorporating a SWR bridge.
The competition is divided into two projects:
A manual tuner
An electronic tuner.
The competition will be run in two phases.
Phase 1 is a paper design with full specification.
Two designs will be selected in each category. The winners will
be awarded R2 000 each for phase 2. Two runner-ups in each category
will each receive a 2006 ARRL Handbook. Phase 2 comprises the construction
of the equipment packaged in a suitable enclosure.
The winner of the manual category will win the Icom VC 8, which
is a 2-metre handheld and the winner of the automatic category will
receive the ICOM VC82. Both will also receive a certificate and
a copy of the 2006 ARRL Handbook. Multisource Telecommunications
have sponsored the prizes.
