VK3 birthday beacon now on air

To celebrate its 95th birthday, Amateur Radio Victoria is running a low power beacon on the 30m band, and welcomes signal reports.

On 30 November, 1911, the Amateur Wireless Society of Victoria was founded, by a meeting of wireless telegraphy experimenters in Melbourne.

In May 1913, it changed its name to the "Wireless Institute of Victoria", and today is the state-wide organisation, Amateur Radio Victoria.

The 5-watt CW beacon with special callsign VK3RTS/95, welcomes reception reports QTHR VK3WI, via the Bureau or email to 95@amateurradio.com.au
