North Wakefield RC to run GB0WAP - Worldwide Antarctic Program station

North Wakefield Radio Club will be running special event station GB0WAP between 19 and 25 February to raise awareness about Antarctica.

For award chasers, the station will have the unique reference of 'WAP zone 72'. This will be the only Worldwide Antarctic Program station running from Britain.

Club contest manager Charles Wilmott, M0OXO, said:
"We'd like to encourage as many people as possible to get involved with this award and find out about the problems that Antarctica faces. It will be a good chance for us as a club to help raise awareness and have fun at the same time. We hope to be active on the HF bands with as many modes as possible".

More information about the WAP scheme and Antarctic week can be found on the web at www.ddxc.net/wap/
