Hunting Lions in the Air

The annual Hunting Lions in the Air contest will take place over the weekend of 13 and 14 January 2007.

The contest starts at 00:00 UTC and ends 48 hours later with phone and CW activity on 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 metres. Echolink activity is also allowed.

The objective of this contest is to create and foster a spirit of international understanding and co-operation among radio amateurs and Lions through worldwide radio communication.

The contest is to commemorate the birthday of the founder of Lionism, Melvin Jones, born at Ft. Thomas, Arizona USA on 13 January 1879.

The contest is open to all appropriately licensed radio amateurs and Short Wave Listeners (SWLs) as follows:

Class 1 contestants are radio amateurs having no Lionistic affiliation.

Class 2 contestants are radio amateurs operating on behalf of a Lions, Lioness or Leo Club. A radio amateur in Class 2 may or may not be a member of the Lions Club for which he/she is operating. Stations in Class 2 shall sign "Lion" and be reflected in log sheets as /L.

The following categories are permitted in each class:
A single operator, all bands, single transmitter,
B multi operator, all bands, single transmitter
or
C short wave listener (SWL).
