New UK Amateur Licence - IR 2028 Document

The Interface Requirement document IR 2028 refered to in the new UK Amateur Radio licence is still at draft, see

The draft IR 2028 is marked as 98/34/EC Notification No 2006/511/UK. Standstill ends 27/12/06

Standstill means the date before which an opinion/comment on the IR should be given by the European Commission / Member States. If given, this will be taken into account and depending, there may be a further standstill period of 3
months.

Approval by the EU Commission of Ofcom IR's doesn't always go to plan. Recently Ofcom had to remove Digital PMR 446 and High Definition Fixed Satellite Systems (HDFSS) from the Wireless Telegraphy (Exemption) (Amendment) Regulations 2006, following concerns raised by the Commission, see 1.3 and 1.4 of http://www.ofcom.org.uk/consult/condocs/

Hopefully the Amateur Radio IR 2028 will have a smooth ride through the Commission's notification process.
