Catastrophic disaster to strike MaryboroughWell ... Hopefully not! This is, however, the scenario to a field day being planned by Australia's Maryborough Electronics & Radio Group. Under the scenario, there is no Power, No Fuel, No Telephone, Mobile Phone or Internet, No Repeaters for Amateurs or UHF CB users, All Police, Ambulance, Fire Brigade and SES, and in fact, ALL OTHER COMMUNICATIONS ARE NON-OPERATIONAL! The committee of MERG are applying for Council permission to converge, with whatever bits and pieces could be expected to be found after such a disaster, at a Park, and set up antennas, transceivers etc. This is proposed as a Club event to give MERG members some experience in field operations. No doubt MERG will get lots of local media coverage with this one!
