Lakshadweep Islands Dxpedition

Datta, VU2DSI informs us that VU7LD/VU2SWS is on 28490Khz at 1400 and 1600z beaming toward South America every day.

The team, sponsored by the Amateur Radio Society of India, is activating the island with the callsign VU7LD.

A second group, under the auspices of the National Institute for Amateur Radio, is also operating from the island as VU7RG in honour of the late Indian prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, VU2RG.

The VU7LD DXpedition runs until to 30 December while the VU7RG team will operate until 10 December.

More than 60 Indian hams, including a number of well-known DXers, are participating in the DXpeditions.

Part of the Laccadive Islands, Lakshadweep is the smallest union territory of India. It is in the Arabian Sea some 200 to 300km off the south western coast of India
