Daily Telegraph letter - Light Bulb Pollution

The Daily Telegraph newspaper published a letter on Light Bulb Pollution by RSGB EMC committee member Dr David Lauder G0SNO.

On December 2nd a letter was published by the newspaper from a listener who had discovered that so called 'Low Energy' light bulbs cause interference to their favourite radio station.

A follow-up letter from Dr David Lauder G0SNO can be seen on the Daily Telegraph December 4th letters page at

It reads:

Light bulb pollution
Sir - RE Parkes is not the only one to experience radio interference from low-energy light bulbs.

The Radio Society of Great Britain is constantly monitoring sources of radio interference and has tested various brands of low-energy lamps.

Although most bulbs appear to meet the electromagnetic compatibility standards, some are much "quieter".

It seems a shame that lamps intended to reduce environmental pollution should pollute the radio spectrum.
