Use of RFID on the rise in New Zealand

The latest newsletter from the New Zealand regulator MED notes that the use of RFID is on the increase.

On 5 April 2007, Radio Spectrum Management introduced a Gazette Notice aiming at facilitating the introduction of Radio Frequency Identification Devices (RFIDs).

RFID tags must use the frequencies contained in the Radiocommunications Regulations (General User Radio Licence for Short Range Devices) Notice 2007. This includes 433.05 - 434.79 MHz which has a power limit of 25 mw eirp.
