Santa brings IRLP back to London

An IRLP node, which has been off the air for over a year, has now made a welcome return - just in time for Christmas.

Located in Enfield, north London, GB3LV is London's only IRLP-linked repeater. However, the IRLP linking was disabled about a year ago after the previous link provider moved house, and away from the area.

Now, Tony Dixon, G4CJC (who writes our weekly 10-metre column) has taken-on the task.

Tony applied for an NoV to operate a replacement IRLP link and Santa (with more than a little help from Ofcom's Rod Wilkinson) delivered it a just few days ago.

In those few days, Tony has been busy upgrading both the hardware and IRLP software and now, after a short period of testing, the node is now 'live' and ready for use.

So, after a long absence, you can once again access GB3LV from any other IRLP-linked repeater anywhere in the world simply by keying-in node number 5600.

Please note that Tony's NoV only allows for 'attended operation', so if he's away from his QTH for any reason, he will need to disable the link.

So, give node 5600 a try this Christmas.

Thanks Santa!
