A source of candidates for amateur radio courses

The draft RSGB National Council minutes for November are now available and they mention a potential source of candidates for amateur radio courses.

The report by the Manager for RSGB Region 10 said that the Deputy Regional Manager for Hampshire (DRM104), for the second year running, is being asked to provide both Foundation and Intermediate courses for post graduates associated with the company EADS Astrium who are carrying out research work on a Government contract using low earth orbit satellite systems.

There are many companies around the country working with Radio Communication systems and the Radio Amateur Foundation and Intermediate courses can provide employees with a good grounding in RF and give the hobby a source of new recruits.

The Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society (CARS) is one club that has helped train electronic engineering apprentices for an Essex company, see
