Wireless Gigabit spec set for Q1 releaseRegHardware reports that the spec for 60 GHz WiGig will be released in the New Year. WiGig takes Wi-Fi and extends it into the 60GHz band to boost data transfer speed up to a peak of 7Gb/s. The use of the 60 GHz band means very high data rates can be supported, the drawback is that the range will be limited, just 10 metres for a perfect unobstructed path.
