XW-1 beacon reported world-wideThe telemetry beacon on the new Amateur Radio satellite XW-1 has been received around the world and the FM transponder has been tested. The 200 mW CW beacon is on 435.790 MHz and puts out a good signal. Bruce Robertson VE9QRP reported on the AMSAT Bulletin Board that he had received it using just a 1/4 wave vertical antenna, however, a small 70cm yagi with 7 or more elements will give more reliable results. Michael Chen, BD5RV/4, has tested the FM transponder, he writes: It is usual practice with Amateur satellites (such as Delfi-C3) that there is a commissioning period which may last several months before transponders are made available for general use.
