SSTL comment on recent news from Taiwan

Further to recent reports relating to the Tsinghua - 1 project, Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd would like to make clear certain points that have been portrayed recently in a misleading light.

The Tsinghua - 1 project was a purely civil project between the University of Surrey and Tsinghua University. Furthermore this was executed within export controls specifically approved by the UK government.

The technology provided for this project did not include ANY propulsion techniques and thus, this spacecraft was not capable of manoeuvring. For this reason, it would be factually incorrect for anyone to assume that there existed a capability to intercept another object in space.
