Radio
Astronomy Group CD ROM Now Available
Happy February to you all! As usual, a few notes to keep you up to date
with Group events.
The ten VLF receiver prototypes have now found good homes with our betatesters.
We are trying to develop some means of testing the devices semi-automatically,
to make production easier. It may also be possible for the end user to
make use of our methods and gadgets to ease final tuning. We will let
you know of the outcome of the initial tests, and when the next batch
will be ready.
The CD-ROM of the Northampton Meeting is now available for sale! I am
sorry it has taken so long to gather together the various materials, but
at last we have it.
This is over 600Mb of the Powerpoint presentations, various videos (not
of the meeting itself, that comes later...), and PDFs of the Circulars
and our poster collection. If you are interested in a copy, please send
a cheque for £2.50 + 50p p&p to myself (Karen is away on business
for some time), made payable to 'The British Astronomical Association'.
Please remember that these are 'hand-made', and so if I am swamped by
orders, there will be a slight delay...
I am sorry that Circular number 2 is not yet back from the printers,
but it won't be long. We have several orders already. If you are interested
in a printed copy of either Circular, please send a cheque for £3.00
+ 50p p&p for each issue, to myself this time please. If you would
like to take out a subscription, just send an amount appropriate to the
number of issues. Note that the publication dates cannot be guaranteed
- it has proved quite difficult to stick to a timetable!
The hardware developments are progressing well, and we have nearly settled
on our networking technology. The development team is planning another
get-together in May, so if you have anything you'd like us to discuss,
please let us know. The software development is nearly working again,
now with JMX and XMLBeans technologies. Any JAVA programmers out there?
