New UK soul music station 'for
over 35's' starts online tests

A new UK radio station which describes itself as 'the most powerful and exciting radio station for over 35's' has today begun online test transmissions ahead of a launch on Sky Digital in the spring.

VIP Radio says its format is Motown, Northern Soul, Disco and Philadelphia Soul by legendary performers such as Aretha Franklin, Lenny Kravitz, Al Green, Michael McDonald, Sly and the Family Stone, Robert Palmer, Prince, James Brown and Marvin Gaye.

Other artists mentioned are Curtis Mayfield, Johnny Taylor, Otis Redding, Jerry Butler, Funkadelic, Arthur Adams, The Tams, Fifth Dimension, Ann Peebles, Bobby Womack and The Pointer Sisters.
