Faulty Progress radio antenna successfully retracted
International Space Station Flight Engineer Mikhail Tyurin, RZ3FT and
Commander Michael Lopez-Alegria, KE5GTK, completed a 6-hour, 18-minute
spacewalk at 11:45 a.m. EST Thursday.
During the spacewalk, they retracted a balky antenna of an unpiloted
Progress cargo carrier at the aft port of the Zvezda Service Module. The
antenna did not fully retract before the spacecraft docked October 26.
They also checked navigation systems in preparation for the summer docking
of a European cargo craft known as the Automated Transfer Vehicle.
Lopez-Alegria and Tyurin conducted their increment’s fifth spacewalk
– a record for station crews.
