ARISS event - College Reydellet, Saint-Denis, Ile de La RéunionAn International Space Station Expedition 16 ARISS school contact has been planned with participants at College Reydellet, Saint-Denis, Ile de La Réunion on 25 Feb. The event is scheduled to begin at approx 14:42 UTC. The contact will be a direct between stations FX0STD and FR5CY/P. The contact should be audible over Reunion Island and nearby Madacascar. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The participants are expected to conduct the conversation in French. Saint-Denis is the administrative capital of the French overseas department of Reunion Island, in the Indian Ocean. The city counts 130.000 inhabitants. Jules Reydellet College is located in the centre of the city, near the Saint-Denis river. Nearly 40 teachers provide tuition to 550 students aged 10-17. Languages taught are French, Spanish, English and German, optional Latin. Jules Reydellet College collaborated to the making of SPUTNIK 40 (RS17) and students contacted Victor Afanassiev on MIR from Tsup, Moscow, September 1999.The College welcomed : Victor Poliakov and Pavel Vinogradov who threw the space model from MIR and also Jean-Lou Chretien , Jean-Pierre and Claudie Haignere. Participants will ask as many of the following questions as time allows: 1) Connaissez vous l'île de La Réunion et pouvez vous nous apercevoir de la station ISS? 6) Est-ce que vous avez déjà vu des météorites ou des objets dans l'espace? 11) Pensez vous que plus tard on pourra vivre dans l'espace? 16) Quelles sont les études qui permettent de devenir astrononaute? Next planned event(s): ARISS is an international educational outreach program partnering the participating space agencies, NASA, Russian Space Agency, ESA, CNES, JAXA, and CSA, with the AMSAT and IARU organizations from participating countries. ARISS offers an opportunity for students to experience the excitement of Amateur Radio by talking directly with crewmembers on-board the International Space Station.
