Belgian Reciprocal Licensing

The Royal National Society of Belgian Radio Amateurs (UBA) website has an announcement clarifying reciprocal arrangements for Foundation ON3 holders with their neighbours in the Netherlands.

It says that Belgian Foundation ON3 holders who meet the requirements of ECC REC (05) 06 will be able to operate in the Netherlands by suffixing their callsign with "PD/".

This does not apply to all ON3 Foundation holders only those who had previously passed the ON2 exam.

A large number of European countries have signed up to the CEPT Novice Licence (equivalent of UK Intermediate) and enjoy full reciprocal arrangements. Both Belgium and the Netherlands are signatories but regretably the UK has not yet signed. The CEPT Entry Level (Foundation) licence is still at draft stage but hopefully in time there will be full reciprocal licensing at Foundation level for CEPT signatory countries.

The Royal National Society of Belgian Radio Amateurs (UBA) have a very good website, however, the English option is rather limited, it is bettter to look at the Nederlands option and use Google language translator. http://www.uba.be/
