New UK Microwave Beacons licenced

Several new microwave beacons have been licenced by the UK regulator Ofcom.

GB3KEU is a 6 cm beacon, in memory of the late Tim Leighfield, G3KEU, who was a well know and very active operator on that band. GB3KEU's frequency is
5760.925 MHz and the NGR is SK350811, the Sheffield Amateur Radio Club HQ.

GB3CAM will operate from Madingley, Cambridgeshire on 10368.755 MHz and 24048.870 MHz.

GB3MAN in Rochdale, locator IO83wo, will use two frequencies in the 6 cm band, 5668.880 MHz and 5760.870 MHz.

These beacons were approved were approved in a remarkably short time, as little as 3 weeks in one case. This illustrates the high level of service that Ofcom now provide and the dedication of their staff. Several years ago it was not uncommon for beacons to take many months if not years to get approval.
