New youth group wants youA new national youth oriented ham radio group headquartered in Belen, New Mexico is seeking both youngsters and adult members to join and help them get active. Bill Pasternak, WA6ITF, reports: The Amateur Radio Youth Association was founded by three young hams. They are Dustin Cox, N0DRC, Jared Robbins, KE5LZV, and Phil Shaw, KE5LZX. Originally called the Amateur Radio Cowboy Club, since November of 2007 the group has taken what it calls a new outlook on Amateur Radio. As a result, is now dedicating its self to the education of the general public and of its youth. The long range mission of the Amateur Radio Youth Association and its KE5RPV station is to further teach the public about the importance of Amateur Radio and to help students in middle school, and high school learn subjects through the use of Amateur Radio. A very noble task indeed, being taken on by a group of rather dedicated young hams. They deserve our support.
For the Amateur Radio Newsline, I'm the worlds oldest young ham, Bill Pasternak, WA6ITF, age 67, in the Newsroom in Los Angeles. To Join the Amateur Radio Youth Association go the http://ke5rpv.org/ and click on the "Membership Application" tab on the left of the page. N0DRC says that anyone who wants to join will be welcomed whether you already have your ham radio license or not.
