The Great Baddow mast

75th Radar Anniversary on BBC Essex

BBC Essex has broadcast an item about the Chain Home mast at Great Baddow and the 75th anniversary of Radar, which can now be heard on the web

The interview with Murray Niman G6JYB, a member of the Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society (CARS) and RSGB Microwave Manager, was broadcast during the Saturday Breakfast Show.

Radio Amateurs from BAE Systems and the Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society have been running two HF stations, call sign GB75CH, from the base of the 360 foot (110m) Home Chain radar mast at Great Baddow.
The mast is one of five surviving nationally and the only one with its full height and platforms remaining.

During the morning of Friday Feb. 26 GB75CH made contact on 80m with three other stations taking part in the celebrations, GB75RDF Daventry, GB4WWR Weeden and GB75BRS Bawdsey Manor.
