Billy GI3NVW and Herbie GI6JPO discuss a cavity capacitor component

Repeaters at Lough Erne Amateur Radio Club

Thank you for bringing us together for a very useful evening, said Brendan Rooney EI6CS, Keeper of the Sligo Repeater, summing up
a strong gathering of 30 radio amateurs from Northern Ireland and
the Republic convened in the SHARE centre by Fermanagh’s Lough Erne Amateur Radio Club.

John McCullagh GI4BWM, Chairman of RSGB’s Emerging Technologies Coordinating Committee gave an excellent exposition of the technical aspects of building a repeater.
It provoked much sharing of experiences among Keepers, including Billy Pollock GI3NVW of West Tyrone, GB3WT.

The host Club’s Herbie Graham GI6JPO gave a demonstration of cavity tuning. He had built the new Fermanagh Repeater GB3CP. It’s tuning and position were improved that day giving even better coverage, east to the Belfast hills but less in West Tyrone, an area well served by GB3WT.

A work change caused Michael Wright EI2DJ from the Dublin Repeater group to miss the meeting, but he plans to be at the Club’s SHARE Rally on Sunday 11 April, for yet more Repeater talk.
