Flanders SAR breakthrough

The Belgium national amateur radio society the UBA report there may be a breakthrough regarding the restrictive SAR regulations in Flanders.

The adminstration in Flanders included Radio Amateurs in the restrictive Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) Ministerial Decree of January 26, 2011 aimed at telecom operators. It meant that Radio Amateurs in Flanders had the same standards and obligations, the same fees, and even the same fines or imprisonment as the telecom operators.

The UBA report that there is now hope for an acceptable arrangement for radio amateurs in Flanders. ON4PN, ON4AVJ and ON3FDS have spoken to Minister Schauvlieghe who gave a verbal promise that under certain conditions radio amateurs would be exempt from applying for a certificate of conformity.
