Two for... One against!

In the Summerland region of VK2, a motion has been put for their AGM that licensed members of their club should be discouraged from using modes such as IRLP and EchoLink on their two main repeaters.

As one said, "Who wants to know the weather reports from overseas at around 8am each morning.?? plus there always seems to be some overseas station connecting or disconnecting at various times during the day !!

Further south a great new EchoLink HF Node in Hobart Node is No.165881. Ross, VK7VKK says the HF node is on 3.585 MHz and suggest we all have a listen and you will hear stations log in from all around the world calling CQ.

This HF EchoLink station in Hobart, operates everyday and presently the system logs around forty stations a day worldwide. If you are in the shack have a listen especially throughout the day and you will be amazed what calls you will hear. We need to publicise these systems as most stations that log in will call CQ and we don't like their calls to go unanswered.

In New Zealand, an EchoLink station exists - ZL1VK on HF
7065 throughout the day and 3750 during the evening.
Both VK7VKK-Link and ZL1VK-Link nodes regularly link together giving radio access to both ZL and VK7's. In other words radio to radio. Now that's playing real amateur radio, isn't it?
