IARU Region 3 Chairman Silent Key

We are saddened to report the death of Peter Naish, VK2BPN - formerly G3EIX - on Sunday 9 January. Peter had suffered a heart attack a few days earlier. Peter died peacefully at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney surrounded by his family.

Peter Naish had a long and distinguished career in amateur radio. He was the current Secretary of the Wireless Institute of Australia and was previously the Federal President of that organisation.

Peter was a long serving Director of IARU Region 3 and since the February 2004 Region 3 conference in Taipei, Taiwan, was the Chairman of Directors in Region 3.

Peter’s funeral is taking place in Sydney this week. The RSGB is being formally represented by Don Beattie, G3BJ, RSGB President 2000 - 2001 and serving IARU Region 1 Secretary, who is currently on holiday in Sydney.
