From Hungary, HG4I is active as HG05HNY now until 31 January to celebrate the New Year. Activity is on all bands using CW, SSB, RTTY and BPSK.

G0SWY and G4OHX of the Royal Signals Amateur Radio Society are operating GB6BOB, commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, until about 23 January. A special certificate is available on request for two 2nd class stamps, or an A5 stamped SASE with one 2nd class stamp. Brian, G8GMU, is operating as GB4BLC from 3 to 31 January as part of Bedworth Lions' Club Awareness Month. Look for him on 40 to 20 metres SSB and 2 metres FM.

Congratulations to the American CQ Amateur Radio magazine, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this month. Amateurs who have had an association with CQ, as a staff member, contributing editor or author may sign "/60" after his or her callsign in those countries where it is permitted, during the first 60 days of 2005. Certificates will be available for certain numbers of contacts made with these stations. The CQ club station WW2CQ will also be activated from various parts of the United States during the special event period. Complete rules for the ‘CQ Gang’ 60th anniversary activity are in the December issue of CQ magazine and on the magazine's website.

ON4MA reports to the ‘Ohio-Penn DX Bulletin’ that Belgian operators may use the ‘OO’ prefix during the whole of 2005. This prefix is being used to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the founding of Belgium as an independent nation.
