Please listen for UX-5 Balloon telemetry
at 14.325 MHz
Please listen for the University of Tennessee Amateur Radio Club
(UTARC) UX-5 balloon telemetry in CW at 14.325.5 MHz.
The callsign, AA4UT/B , repeats every 15 seconds and the telemetry
sequence is sent out a minute after 8 callsign intervals...but could
take as long as 10 minutes if the GPS isn't locking. At present
the GPS isn't working. That may be due to temperature or moisture.
If you hear it, please send a report to:
http://www.utarc.org/
The balloon is designed to float at a constant altitude of 35,000
feet, although it may descend as it cools in the evening. The balloon
is designed for long distances and flilghts potentially of several
days. Conceivably, it could travel several thousand miles before
descending.
As G-land will have propagation to the balloon, which is expected
to be somewhere over the Atlantic, tomorrow sooner than we do in
the states, you will hear it before we do in the morning. Please
listen for it when you get
up in the new year.
Thanks for the effort. Telemetry is precious for these experimental
flights, and if you in G-land can get it a few hours earlier than
we can, that will help the UT hams.
