New e-mail group for internet linking
project
A new e-mail group has been set up for UK and Irish radio amateurs
interested in the Internet Radio Linking Project.
IRLP is a system devised by Canadian ham Dave Cameron, VE7LTD,
to link amateur radio repeater systems and radio gateway nodes together.
The system is different from other internet linking techniques
in that the only means of accessing the system is a by radio link,
whether a repeater or simplex gateway.
IRLP is also highly secure and benefits from a higher quality
audio transmission system and faster switching between transmission
and reception modes. There are currently almost 60 IRLP nodes available
in the UK and Ireland .
The new e-mail group was set up by Matt Beasant, G4RKY. He said
the “idea behind the group is not to replace the excellent
support system that the IRLP team already has in place but to provide
a place where discussion of UK and Eire specific issues and ideas
can take place”.
To subscribe to the UK IRLP e-mail group, either send an e-mail
to: uk_irlp-subscribe@<no spam>yahoogroups.com
or visit the group's web page at groups.yahoo.com/group/uk_irlp/
.

all the nodes in the world, visit the main IRLP website - www.irlp.net
