WIA's Glenn Dunstan VK4DU to stand down
'After valuable service to the Amateur Radio community as a Director
of the Wireless Institute of Australia, Glenn Dunstan VK4DU
is not seeking re-election to the Board due to business commitments.
Glenn's forthright and pithy communications with Board members will be
sadly missed.
The WIA Board is delighted that Peter Young VK3MV
has been nominated for the director's position on the Board of the WIA
that will be vacated by Glenn.
Peter has contributed to the betterment of Amateur Radio over a long period
most recently, firstly, as the elected chairman of the WIA group reporting
on the WIA Study Group on Independent Review of Government Spectrum Holdings
- Public Discussion Paper of 13 November 2006 and, secondly, in the provision
of valuable knowledge and assistance to our President, Michael Owen VK3KI,
in various detailed negotiations with the ACMA on behalf of radio amateurs.
Regular readers of AR Magazine and the news items on the WIA web site
will be aware of the observations and reports Peter has compiled on the
various BPL trials in Australia.
Peter has been a licensed amateur since 1965 and has a background in maritime
communications engineering. He is a former Regional Manager in Melbourne
and the first Manager, BPL Project Team for ACA/ACMA.
As Amateur Radio operators, we are indeed fortunate to have someone with
Peter's technical and administrative knowledge, understanding and skill
seeking election to the Board of the WIA.'
