Radio satellite Pehuensat-1 heard around the world
Reports are coming in from all over the world of the reception of signals
from the latest Amateur Radio Satellite Pehuensat
(pronounced pea-when-sat).
The satellite was launched on 10th January at 04:23 GMT on the PSLV-C7
launch vehicle from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in India. It transmits
on 145.825 MHz FM voice in English, Spanish and Hindi followed by AX25
1200 bps packet.
The volunteers of AMSAT-Argentina have done a superb job in the major
task of designing, building and launching Pehuensat-1. Their website at

The Amateur Satellite Service has a very limited spectrum allocation
and endeavours to make the maximum use of each frequency. Currently the
only Primary Amateur Satellite allocations in the IARU band plan between
29 MHz and
25 GHz are:
29.300 - 29.500 MHz
145.800 - 146.000 MHz
24000.000 - 24050.000 MHz
Pehuensat-1 shares its frequency with four other Amateur Satellites -
NO-44, HO-59, NO-60 & NO-61
