Code removed from US licence requirements

RAC members and Canadian amateurs are invited to go to http://arrl.org/fcc/morse/ to read of FCC's notice deleting any Morse code examination for United States Amateur Radio Licence applicants that would go into effect Friday, February 23, 2007.

The ARRL cautions that this date is tentative, pending official confirmation and publication.

RAC President Earle Smith VE6NM attended the ARRL Board of Directors meeting Jan 19-20/07 and reports that attendees there were very positive about this announcement - anticipating an increase in the number of US amateurs becoming active on HF phone after Feb 23/07.
